The short version: Audiobook Creator Studio does not collect your personal information. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Your books, your recordings and your voice stay on your own computer, and the speech tools run on your computer too.

Who we are

“We” means David & Jane, the publisher of Audiobook Creator Studio (the “app”). You can reach us at support@davidandjane.com.

What the app does with your information

We do not collect, receive, sell, rent or share any personal information through the app. The app does not send your books, your recordings, your voice or anything about you to us or to anyone else.

Your microphone

Audiobook Creator Studio asks Windows for permission to use your microphone. It is used for these things only:

Your recordings are saved only on your computer, inside your book. You can turn off microphone access for the app at any time in Windows Settings, under Privacy & security, Microphone.

Speech recognition runs on your computer

The tools that listen to your narration (Check My Book, and the reading screen that follows your voice or re-records a sentence) use a speech model that is part of the app. Your voice and the words it recognises are not sent anywhere and no internet connection is used.

What stays on your computer

To work properly, the app saves some things on your computer:

Books and recordings are kept in an Audiobook Creator Studio folder in your Documents folder, so you can see them and back them up. None of this is uploaded anywhere. You can remove it by deleting a book in the app or by uninstalling the app and deleting that folder.

Deleting a book

When you delete a book in the app it is moved to the Windows Recycle Bin, so you can restore it. Nothing is erased for good until you empty the Recycle Bin.

Files you bring in and files you create

When you import a manuscript (EPUB, PDF, Word, HTML or text), a music or sound file, or a picture or video for a video of your audiobook, the app reads the file you chose on your computer. It is not uploaded, and we never see it.

When you create an audiobook, a video or a backup, the files are saved where you choose. They contain what you typed (the title, author and narrator) and your recording, so keep in mind who you share them with. We never receive them.

Sounds made by the app

The starter music and sound effects are made by the app itself on your computer. Nothing is downloaded. A video is made on your computer with the media engine of Windows; nothing is uploaded, and posting it to YouTube or anywhere else is up to you.

Purchases and the Microsoft Store

The app is distributed through the Microsoft Store. If you download the app or buy Pro, Microsoft handles your account, payment and download information under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We do not receive your payment details. The app asks Windows whether you own Pro; that check is made by Windows. Microsoft may share basic aggregated information with us, such as the number of downloads, which does not identify you.

Components inside the app

The app includes open-source software that runs entirely on your computer, such as the speech model used for recognition. These components do not send information anywhere.

Children

Audiobook Creator Studio is a tool for people who make audiobooks and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for a child to disclose, and the app has no chat, comments, social features or online sharing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have received information about a child, please write to support@davidandjane.com and we will delete it.

This website

This website is a simple set of information pages. It does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. If you email us, or use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message, and we use them only to reply to you. The contact form sends your message to our email by SMTP and keeps nothing on the website server; it uses one temporary cookie, deleted when you close the browser, only to stop spam. We keep support emails only as long as needed to help you, and we do not share them.

Security

Because your information stays on your computer, its safety depends on your computer’s own protections, such as your Windows account and device security. Keep Windows up to date, use a password on shared computers, and keep a backup of your books.

Your rights

Since we hold no personal information about you from the app, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you have emailed us and want your message removed, write to us and we will delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and you can contact us about them at any time.

Changes to this policy

If the app or this website changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
