Book Publishing Studio privacy policy
Short version: the app has no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and it never sends your books, pictures, voice or settings to David & Jane or to anyone else.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not run a server for this app and the app does not send us any information. We cannot see your books, your pictures or how you use the program.
What stays on your computer
Everything you make and choose is stored on your own computer:
- your books (words, pictures, covers, exports, backups and the records you keep in the Promote tab) in your Documents folder, under Book Publishing Studio;
- your settings, your author profile and your own icons in your user folder (AppData, SelfPublishStudio);
- a small encrypted record of the 7-day Pro trial, in your user folder;
- an error log, in your user folder, that helps you or us find a fault if you send it. It is never sent by the program.
You can delete any of these at any time. Removing the app does not delete your books.
Microphone
The app asks to use the microphone only so you can dictate your words. When you press the dictation button, your speech is turned into text on your computer with a speech model that comes with the app. The sound is not uploaded and no internet connection is used for it.
Microsoft Store purchases
Free works without any purchase. If you buy Pro, or start the trial, Microsoft handles the payment and your Microsoft account through the Microsoft Store. The app only asks the Store whether you own Pro. We do not receive your payment details or your account. Microsoft's own privacy statement applies to what the Store does.
Links you open
Some buttons (Share, a publisher's website, the links in your media kit) open your web browser with an address, and sometimes a title or message you chose, filled in. The app does not post for you and does not connect to those sites itself. The site you open has its own privacy policy.
Children
The app is made for authors. It does not collect information from anyone, including children. Activity pages for children that you make with it are yours.
Your choices
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to ask us to delete. You control your files: delete a book's folder, clear the app's settings folder, or uninstall the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page with a new date.
